Novi Indy Racers

This print features the most prominent of the famous Novi V8 Indy racers. The top car is Ralph Hepburn's 1946 entry, the first Novi at Indianapolis after WWII. He led the race and set a lap record with the Governor Special. Below that is Duke Nalon's 1948 Grooved Piston Special, which was fastest qualifier and finished third that year, the best finish for a Novi at Indianapolis. The red car in the center is Paul Russo's 1956 Vespa Special, which also had a turn at leading the '500.' The silver-blue car is Bill Cheesbourg's Air Conditioner Special of 1958. Finally, the bottom STP-sponsored car is Andy Granatelli's Novi-Ferguson driven by Bobby Unser in 1965. It was the fastest-qualifying Novi ever, and also the last to run at Indianapolis.
